Lessons Learned From Camping

• Don't schedule your camping trip too far in advance.  That is like daring Mother Nature to make it rain (I swear the weather report was clear when I planned this).
• Hot Dogs taste way better when cooked over a fire.
• Raccoons are not afraid of people and you can't get rid of them no matter what you try.
• Mother Nature can make it rain whenever she wants.
• Foil Dinners work much better when you remember the foil.
• 4 year old girls look very cute in curlers.
• Foil dinners still work pretty well when cooked in a dutch oven.
• If the park ranger comes and says, "There is a slight chance of thunderstorm tonight.  If you hear the siren blast 3 times, head for the showers," it is time to leave.
• 9 month-olds love to camp and eat everything on the ground.
• Cooking is fun when you are camping.
• Hiking with a 4 year old is much better when there is a playground along the way to stop at.
• Driving home in the pouring rain is way better than sleeping in a tent in the pouring rain.
• Cleaning up after you cook is not fun and takes twice as long.
• Take twice as much newspaper as you think you need.
• It can rain a lot in Indiana in the spring.
• If someone says that the restrooms are very nice at this campground, you're still gonna be using a port-a-potty.
• Shades state park is beautiful.
• Burning stuff is just as much fun when you are 30 as it was when you were 12.
• We love camping!!
