So first of all, yes it does occasionally snow here in the Midwest. Here in Bloomington we got about 2-3 inches on Tuesday and then about 12 inches overnight. It was quite a sight when we woke up. I thought we were back in Idaho, and even by Orchard Park, lake effect snow, this was pretty good. However the real problem that caused so problems for a lot of people was the 1/2 inch of ice that came in between the snow in the form of frozen rain. It pretty much shut down schools on Tuesday, the library and even Indiana University shut down campus on Wednesday for the first time since 1978. It was a nice change of pace to just be home and have a fun day with Maggie and Megan. As a side benefit, it was the first time I had really been able to drive our Subaru in the snow, and I was quite pleased. I didn't really dig out the car to see how it would do backing over a foot of snow, and it didn't even flinch. It was fun going down some side streets and going through some heavy snow and not even sliding at all. I hope I don't get in a wreck any time soon after saying this, but is was fun to drive around town and see people wondering what this foot of white stuff was all over and why were there cars stuck. That being said, I know that we still got of pretty easy compared to a lot of people and I am glad to be living in an apartment complex that plowed our parking lots. I saw on the news that there were places in Oklahoma that got 3-4 inches of pure ice on Wednesday and that there were over 800,000 people without power around the country yesterday. But we had fun and nothing too serious for us.
Now back to the title of this post, as many of you know, Maggie is quite a character and generally keeps us laughing quite a bit. I will try to write more stories about the funny things she does, but yesterday I came downstairs, and Maggie had gotten a little tupperware of some leftover spaghettio's out, had dragged her chair over to the microwave and was in the process of fixing herself some food because she was hungry. I stopped her and helped her cook them and then she actually ate the spaghettio's and even stayed pretty clean. Later that night, I was thinking to myself and then discussed with Megan what would have happened if I had just let her do it herself. I am pretty confident that she would have been fine using the microwave and probably would have been able to do it all by herself. The only thing that may have been problematic would be getting the lid off of the tupperware, but other than that she probably would be fine.
Maybe next time ...

We heard about that storm that hit you guys. We lucked out and it just missed us. But we've definitely still had our share of storms and snow, though!
